Municipality Star Dojran is situated in the last south-east point of our country at the Greek border. The place is 28km from Gevgelija, 170km from Skopje and 70km from Thessaloniki.
This region has population since the stone age and there are lots of objects and artifacts found in this region. In the region around the lake during the centuries is created specific culture with original living tradition, fishing, catering and a dialect. The total population is about 5000 inhabitants while during the summer period this number expands to 40000 visitors normally. This number doesn't count daily and weekend visitors.
This lake is one of the oldest in the world and because of its specialty in geological, botanical, zoological content as well as the soft and healthy climate,
the construction and function of each heavy industry object is strictly forbidden just to protect the environment's ecological balance. Near the lake there are five East Macedonian municipalities as: Strumica, Gevgelija, Valandovo, Bogdanci and Star Dojran with a population of more than 150000. From the other side of the border on the territory of Republic of Greece traditional and administrative are connected such places as Doirani, Drosato, Kilkis, Verija, Pelas, Katerini, and others connected to Lake Dojran with a population of 790000, but the main amount of our visitors come from Thessalonika with a population of around 1000000 people.
